Installing applications on devices

The primary purpose of the EAC is to install DI applications onto devices. After an appropriate application and version have been selected and a device group (or individual device) has been identified, you can install the application version to the devices. All utility roles have permissions to perform these tasks.

Tip: Before installation, the application must be available to and licensed by your utility. For more information, see Available applications. Additionally, the version of the application must be approved by a Utility Tester. For more information, see Approving application versions for deployment. These tasks are covered in separate chapters of the document.

Typically, default settings are used to download the application, apply the license, and start the application when the installation is complete. For more information, see Installing an application.

However, sometimes these pieces are handled independently to better schedule network activity or to download an application before the licenses are ready. For more information, see Other application installation options.

For information on managing application installations during a phased device deployment, see Managing application installations during phased device deployment.
